This week’s lesson is called “Walden.

درس این هفته‌مون «والدن» نام داره.

” And we’re going to talk about a book with the same name, Walden, by a writer named Henry David Thoreau.

و ما قراره راجع به یه کتاب با همین اسم صحبت کنیم، والدن، از یه نویسنده به نام هنری دیوید ثرو.

Now Thoreau is probably my favorite American writer, I guess maybe my favorite writer in general.

خب ثرو احتمالا نویسنده‌ی آمریکایی برگزیده‌ی منه، فکر کنم شاید [حتی] به طور کلی نویسنده‌ی برگزیده‌ی منه.

He wrote back during the American Civil War, prior to the American Civil War, and his book Walden is his most famous book.

اون قبلنا تو دوره‌ی جنگ داخلی آمریکا می‌نوشت، قبل از دوره‌ی جنگ داخلی آمریکا، و کتابش، والدن، معروف‌ترین کتابشه.

Now it’s quite difficult.

خب این خیلی دشواره.

There’s a lot of big vocabulary in this book.

کلی کلمات گنده توی این کتابه.

And also the writing style is kind of old, very, very, very formal English and a little bit of an old style of English.

و همچنین سبک نوشتاریش یه جورایی قدیمیه، خیلی خیلی خیلی انگلیسی رسمی‌ایه.

So I’m going to read one paragraph from the book and then I’ll talk about it more.

پس من قراره یه پاراگراف از کتاب بخونم و بعدش بیشتر راجع بهش حرف خواهم زد.

And that paragraph maybe quite difficult for you, but don’t worry.

و اون پاراگراف ممکنه واسه شما خیلی سخت باشه، اما نگران نباشین.

I’ll explain it after.

بعدش توضیح می‌دم.

Now, Walden, the book, is about an experiment, an experience, that Henry David Thoreau had.

حالا، والدن، [همون] کتاب، راجع به یه آزمایشه، یه تجربه، که هنری دیوید ثرو داشته.

He decided to go and live in the woods.

اون تصمیم گرفته بره تو جنگل زندگی کنه.

Go away from the town, where he was into the woods, into the forest, and then build a very small little simple house and live in it by himself.

از شهرش دور شه بره یه جایی توی جنگلا، توی بیشه‌ها، و یه خونه‌ی خیلی کوچولو و ساده بسازه و تنها واسه خودش توش زندگی کنه.

And just think and relax and live a very simple life.

و صرفا فکر کنه و ریلکس کنه و یه زندگی خیلی ساده داشته باشه.

And then he wrote a book about this experience.

و بعد یه کتاب راجع به این تجربه نوشت.

Now, of course, this is something that people have done for centuries and centuries, holy people, religious people, spiritual people, philosophers.

حالا خب البته که این یه چیزیه که افراد واسه قرن‌ها و قرن‌ها انجامش داده‌ن، افراد اهل تقدیس، افراد مذهبی، آدمای معنوی، فیلسوف‌ها.

In many different periods of history, in many different locations in the world, they’ve gone off by themselves to some small remote place away from other people to think, to live simply.

توی خیلی از برهه‌های تاریخی، تو خیلی از جاهای دنیا، اونا واسه خودشون رفته‌ن به یه سری جاهای دورافتاده، دور از آدمای دیگه تا تفکر کنن، ساده زندگی کنن.

And of course, we have a lot of great intellectual breakthroughs from these people.

و البته که، از این افراد کلی دستاوردهای اندیشمندانه‌ی عظیم داریم.

So it’s a long tradition to do this and Henry David Thoreau was following the same tradition.

پس انجام دادنش یه رسم قدیمیه و هنری دیوید ثرو هم داشت همین رسم رو دنبال می‌کرد.

And it’s not a usual thing for Americans, I would say.

و می‌تونم بگم این واسه آمریکایی‌ها یه چیز معمولی نیستش.

He was maybe one of the first Americans to do this and write about it.

اون شاید یکی از اولین آمریکایی‌هایی بودش که این رو انجام داد و راجع بهش نوشت.

I’m sure many did it but he wrote about his experience.

مطمئنم که خیلیا این کار رو کردن ولی اون راجع به تجربه‌ش نوشت.

And this book is a book about his experience, his experiment, but more so it’s a book about his philosophy, a philosophy of life that he developed while living in the woods alone.

و این کتاب یه کتابیه راجع به تجربه‌ش، راجع به آزمایشش، ولی از اون بیشتر اینکه یه کتابیه راجع به فلسفه‌ش، یه فلسفه‌ی زندگی‌ای که اون وقتی داشت تنها توی جنگل زندگی می‌کرد توسعه‌ش داد.

And the main part of this philosophy is to live simply.

و بخش اصلی این فلسفه ساده زندگی کردنه.

That in fact, we don’t need so much in terms of things, buying things, getting lots of things.

اینکه در واقع، ما خیلی به مواردی مثل اجناس، خریدن اجناس، به دست آوردن اجناسِ زیاد نیاز نداریم.

So even at that time in the United States people were always trying to get more, more, more…bigger, bigger, bigger house…more, more, more money…more, more, more nice furniture.

پس حتی تو زمان توی ایالات متحده، مردم همیشه داشتن سعی می‌کردن بیشتر، بیشتر، و بیشتر به دست بیارن… خونه‌ی بزرگتر و بزرگتر و بزرگتر… پول بیشتر و بیشتر و بیشتر… مبلمان خوب بیشتر و بیشتر و بیشتر.

Just always buying things and of course today we have more, more, more computers and iPods and phones and bigger cars and nicer stuff.

فقط همیشه چیزمیز خریدن و مشخصا امروزه ما کامپیوترها و آیپادها و موبایل‌های بیشتر و بیشتر و بیشتر و ماشین‌های بزرگ‌تر و اجناس بهتری داریم.

All the time people want more, more, more.

مردم دائما بیشتر و بیشتر و بیشتر می‌خوان.

And he was saying this is a source of unhappiness if you’re always trying to get more and more and more you will never be happy.

و اون داشت می‌گفت این یه منشا نارضایتیه اگه شما دائما در حال تلاش واسه بیشتر و بیشتر و بیشتر به دست آوردن باشین، هیچوقت راضی نخواهید بود.

And so his idea was actually to be happy with what you need and then focus on doing other things.

و بنابراین ایده‌ی اون این بود که در واقع با مقداری که بهش نیاز دارین راضی بشین و بعد روی چیزای دیگه تمرکز کنین.

Instead of always trying to get more, more, more, live more simply and you will have a lot of time for yourself.

به جای همیشه سعی کردن واسه بیشتر و بیشتر و بیشتر به دست آوردن، ساده‌تر زندگی کنین و [اینطوری] کلی وقت برای خودتون خواهین داشت.

You’ll work much less.

خیلی کمتر کار خواهین کرد.

You’ll enjoy your life.

از زندگیتون لذت خواهید برد.

So that is the basic philosophy of Henry David Thoreau.

پس این شد فلسفه‌ی پایه‌ای هنری دیوید ثرو.

It’s also a very Buddhist or Taoist philosophy.

یه فلسفه‌ی خیلی بودایی یا تائویی[طور]ی هم هستش.

A lot of different religions and spiritual practices have this similar philosophy.

کلی از مذاهب و معارف معنوی همین فلسفه‌ی مشابه رو دارن.

So anyway, let me read this paragraph about his experiment and then we’ll talk about it a little more.

خب در هر صورت، بذارین این پاراگرافِ راجع به آزمایشش رو بخونم و بعد یکم بیشتر راجع بهش حرف خواهیم زد.

Here we go.

می‌ریم که داشته باشیم.

I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.

«من این را آموختم، لااقل از آزمایش خود: که اگر فردی با اطمینان در مسیر رویاهایش پیشروی کند، و برای زندگی کردن به روشی که متصور شده مجاهدت کند، با موفقیتی مواجه خواهد شد که در اوقات معمول غیرمنتظره‌ست».

He will put some things behind, he will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws will be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense.

«او مسائلی را پشت رو خواهد گذاشت، از یک مرز نامرئی عبور خواهد کرد؛ قوانین عالمگیر، و آزادیٰ‌بخش تازه‌ای در اطراف و درون اون شروع به پدیدار کردن خود خواهند کرد؛ یا آنکه قوانین پیشین گسترش پیدا خواهند کرد و در مسیر مطلوب او تفسیر خواهند شد».

In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness.

«قوانین عالم به همان تناسب که او زیست خود را ساده‌سازی می‌کند، کمتر بغرنج ظاهر می‌شوند، و تنهایی دیگر تنهایی نخواهد بود، به همان مانند که فقر دیگر فقر… ضعف دیگر ضعف [نخواهد بود]».

If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be.

«اگر قصری در هوا ساخته‌اید، عمل(این افکار) شما لزوما از دست رفته (بیهوده) نیست؛ همان جایی‌اند که باید باشند».

Now put the foundations under them.

«حال، زیر آن شالوده را بنا کن».

Okay, that is the paragraph.

خب، این از پاراگراف.

What does it mean?

معنیش چیه؟

Let’s talk about it.

بیاین راجع بهش صحبت کنیم.

I’ll go from the beginning and discuss the meaning of this.

من می‌رم از اول و معنی این رو مطرح می‌کنم.

Now the beginning part he says if one (it means if someone) advances confidently (strongly) in the direction of his dream (of their dream), and endeavors (and tries) to live the life they have imagined, they will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.

خب بخش اولی اون داره می‌گه اگه فردی (یعنی اگه یه کسی)، با اطمینان (با قدرت) در مسیر رویاهاش (رویاهاشون) پیشروی کنه، و برای زندگی کردن به نحوی که متصور شده‌ن مجاهدت (تلاش) کنن، با موفقیتی که در اوقات معمول غیرمنتظره‌ست مواجه می‌شن.

What that means is if you try to live your dream you will be successful.

چیزی که این معنی می‌ده اینه که اگه سعی کنین رویاتون رو زندگی کنین موفق خواهین شد.

You’ll be surprised.

شما شگفت‌زده خواهین شد.

That if you really are confident and strong, you say “I will do this,” whatever your dream is, whatever your big goal is, if you just start working towards it and trying to get it, that you’ll be surprised at your success.

که اگه واقعا مطمئن و پرقدرت باشین، بگین «من این کار رو خواهم کرد»، آرزوتون هر چیزی که هست، رویای بزرگتون هر چیزی که هست، اگه فقط شروع کنین به فعالیت کردن براش و سعی برای به دست آوردنش، از موفقیتتون شگفت‌زده خواهین بود.

You will succeed.

شما موفق خواهین شد.

It will be less difficult than you imagined.

کمتر از چیزی که تصور می‌کردین سخت خواهد بود.

And then he talks about, y’ know, new laws will open around this person…what he’s saying is that the universe or God or the Tao, whatever your belief is, that it will help you.

و بعد اون راجع به، می‌دونی، قوانین جدیدی که دور و بر این آدم باز می‌شن صحبت می‌کنه… چیزی که اون داره می‌گه اینه که کائنات یا خدا یا تائو، هر چیزی که بهش باور داری، اون بهت کمک می‌کنه.

That in fact, that the more confident you are, the more strongly you try to get your dreams, you will get help.

که در واقع، که هر چی بیشتر اعتماد به نفس داشته باشی، با قدرت بیشتری سعی برای به دست آوردن آرزوهات می‌کنی، کمک خواهی گرفت.

Things will happen to help you.

اتفاقاتی رخ می‌دن تا بهت کمک کنن.

Y’know, if you’re religious, y’know, maybe you think God is going to help you.

می‌دونی، اگه مذهبی باشین، می‌دونین دیگه، شاید فکر کنین خدا قراره بهتون کمک کنه.

But God’s going to wait until you are confident until you actually try to live your biggest dream.

ولی خدا قراره وایسه تا وقتی شما اعتماد به نفس پیدا کنین، تا وقتی شما واقعا تلاش کنین بزرگ‌ترین رویاهاتون رو زندگی کنین.

And if you do that and you keep trying and you’re strong and you believe, then God will give you help.

و اگه این کار رو انجام بدین و به تلاش کردن ادامه بدین و قوی باشین و باور کنین، بعدش خدا بهتون کمک خواهد کرد.

And if you’re not religious and you don’t believe in God, maybe it’s, y’know, the Tao, or the force of the universe or, y’know, maybe it’s your unconscious mind that’s going to give you that help.

و اگه مذهبی نیستین و به خدا باور ندارین، شاید، تائو، یا نیروی کائنات یا شایدم ذهن ناخوداگاهتون باشه که قراره بهتون اون کمک رو بده.

Whatever it is, some force or forces will help you.

هر چی که هس، یه نیرو یا نیروهایی بهتون کمک خواهند کرد.

You won’t be alone.

شما تنها نخواهین بود.

That’s what he’s saying.

این چیزیه که اون داره می‌گه.

So he’s basically saying to have faith, believe.

پس اون اساسا داره می‌گه ایمان، باور داشته باشین.

Believe in your dream.

به رویاتون باور داشته باشین.

Try to get your dream and if you do it you’re going to succeed.

سعی کنین رویاتون رو به دست بیارین و اگه این کار رو کنین، قراره که موفق بشین.

It’s going to be easier.

قراره که آسون‌تر بشه.

Things will happen to help you.

اتفاقاتی رخ خواهند داد که بهتون کمک کنن.

So that’s the first part of the paragraph.

پس این بخش اوله پاراگرافه.

In the second part of the paragraph he says that the more you simplify your life, the easier life becomes, that’s what that means.

تو بخش دوم پاراگراف اون می‌گه هر چی بیشتر زندگیتون رو ساده‌سازی کنین، زندگیتون آسون‌تر می‌شه، این می‌شه معنیش.

In proportion as you simplify your life the laws of the universe will appear less complex.

«قوانین عالم به همان تناسب که شما زیست خود را ساده‌سازی می‌کنید، کمتر بغرنج ظاهر می‌شوند».

What that means is the more you make your life simple, the easier your life becomes.

معنیش اینه که هر چی بیشتر زندگیتون رو ساده کنین، زندگیتون آسون‌تر می‌شه.

Everything becomes easier.

همه‌چی آسون‌تر می‌شه.

It’s easier to succeed.

موفق شدن آسون‌تره.

It’s easier to do everything.

هر کاری رو انجام دادن آسون‌تره.

You have less stress in your life.

استرس کمتری توی زندگیتون دارین.

Everything becomes much, much easier the more your life is simplified.

اگه زندگیتون ساده‌سازی‌شده باشه همه چی خیلی خیلی آسون‌تر می‌شه.

And then finally he says if you have built castles in the air, your work is not lost.

و بعد نهایتا اون می‌گه اگه روی هوا قلعه ساخته‌ین، عملتون از دست نرفته.

That’s where they should be.

همونجاییه که باید باشه.

Put the foundations under them.

پِی (فونداسیون) رو زیرش قرار بده.

Castles in the air, I’ll talk about this in vocabulary, but castles in the air just means dreaming big.

قلعه‌های روی هوا، من راجع به این توی دایره لغات صحبت خواهم کرد، ولی قلعه‌های روی هوا صرفا یعنی بزرگ خیالبافی کردن.

It’s a slang phrase, an idiom actually, and it just means, if you build castles in the air, to build castles in the air, means to dream big, right?

یه عبارت عامیانه‌ست، یه اصطلاحه در واقع، و صرفا یعنی، اگه روی هوا قلعه بسازین، قلعه ساختن رو هوا، یعنی بزرگ خیالپردازی کردن، درست؟

You’re not building a house on the ground.

در حال ساختن خونه رو زمین نیستین.

You’re building your house up in the air.

دارین خونه‌تون رو بالا رو هوا می‌سازین.

You’re dreaming a big dream.

دارین یه خیال گنده رو رویاپردازی می‌کنین.

He’s saying that, that is great.

اون داره می‌گه که این عالیه.

That’s fantastic.

این فوق‌العاده‌ست.

You should dream very, very big.

شما باید خیلی خیلی بزرگ خیالپردازی کنین.

Don’t have small dreams.

رویاهای کوچیک نداشته باشین.

Have really big dreams.

رویاهای واقعا بزرگ داشته باشین.

He says, but the next step is you must do something.

اون می‌گه، اما قدم بعد اینه که شما باید یه کاری انجام بدین.

Don’t just dream.

صرفا رویاپردازی نکنین.

Just dreaming is not enough.

صرفا خیالپردازی کردن کافی نیس.

If you dream only, nothing will happen.

اگه فقط خیالپردازی کنین، هیچ اتفاقی نمی‌افته.

He says you have to put the foundations under the castle, under the house.

اون می‌گه شما باید زیر قلعه، زیر خونه پِی بریزین.

That means you have to take action.

این یعنی شما باید عمل کنین.

You have to take action.

شما باید عمل کنین.

You have to dream a really big dream, that’s the first step.

شما باید یه آرزوی بزرگ رو خیال‌پردازی کنین، این قدم اوله.

But the second step, you have to take action.

ولی قدم دوم، باید عمل کنین.

You actually have to work to get that dream.

شما باید واقعا کار کنین تا اون رویا رو به دست بیارین.

So he’s saying yes, dream big, but also take action.

پس اون داره می‌گه، آره، بزرگ رویاپردازی کن، ولی همینطور عمل هم بکن.

Alright, so that is the end of the Walden main story here.

بسیار خب، پس اینم از پایان داستان اصلی والدن.

I hope you enjoyed it.

امیدوارم ازش لذت برده باشین.

Walden is a fantastic book but I warn you, it is quite difficult so reading the whole thing might be very difficult for most non native speakers.

والدن یه کتاب فوق‌العاده‌ست ولی بهتون اخطار می‌دم، کاملا سخته پس خوندن کل قضیه ممکنه واسه اکثر متکلمین غیربومی دشوار باشه.

In fact, it can be a difficult book even for native speakers.

در واقع، می‌تونه حتی واسه متکلمین بومی هم کتاب دشواری باشه.

But I hope you get a little bit of the idea of Walden and of Thoreau’s philosophy just from this paragraph alone.

ولی امیدوارم یه ذره از مفهوم والدن و فلسفه‌ی ثرو رو فقط صرفا از همین پاراگراف بگیرین.

Welcome to the vocabulary lesson for “Walden.

به درس دایره لغات برای فصل «والدن» خوش اومدین.

” Let’s get started.

بریم که شروع کنیم.

Our first word is advance, to advance.

کلمه‌ی اولمون Advance (به معنی پیشرفت، جلو رفتن) هستش، To advance.

So this is a verb.

پس یه فعله.

Now you probably know advanced in another meaning, meaning high level.

حالا احتمالا Advanced (به معنی پیشرفته) رو می‌دونین به یه معنی دیگه، به معنی سطح بالا.

But this is a different meaning.

ولی این یه معنی متفاوته.

This is a verb.

یه فعله.

It’s an action.

یه عمله.

To advance means to move forward, to move forward.

To advance یعنی جلو رفتن، به جلو حرکت کردن.

So advance towards your dreams means move towards your dreams. Go forward towards your dreams.

پس Advance towards your dreams یعنی به سوی رویاهات جلو برو، برو به سمت رویاهات.

Alright, our next word is to endeavor.

بسیار خب، کلمه بعدیمون Endeavor (به معنی تلاش، مجاهدت) هستش.

This is a noun also but in this paragraph it’s a verb, to endeavor to do something.

یه اسمه (دستور زبان) ولی خب همچنین توی این پاراگراف یه فعله، To endeavor to do something (تلاش کردن واسه انجام دادن چیزی).

To endeavor to live the life you have imagined.

تلاش کردن (To endeavor) واسه رسیدن به زندگی ای که متصور شدین.

To endeavor to live your dreams and endeavor means to try, to attempt.

تلاش کنید (To endeavor) که رویاتون رو زندگی کنین، و Endeavor یعنی سعی کردن، اقدام کردن.

So, to attempt to live your dreams, to try to live your dreams, to endeavor to live your dreams. So Thoreau is saying you should endeavor to live your biggest dreams. You should try to live your biggest dreams.

پس، اقدام کردن واسه زندگی کردن رویاهاتون، سعی برای زندگی کردن رویاتون، To endeavor to live your dreams. ثرو می‌گه باید تلاش کنین که بزرگ‌ترین رویاتون رو زندگی کنین، باید سعی کنین که بزرگ‌ترین رویاتون رو زندگی کنین.

Okay, and then a little later he says if you do this, if you try to live your biggest dreams and you try hard then you will have success unexpected in common hours.

خب، یکم بعد می‌گه اگه این کارو کنین، اگه تلاش کنین که بزرگ‌ترین رویاهاتون رو زندگی کنین و سخت کوشش کنین به موفقیتی می‌رسین که توی زمان عادی انتظارش رو ندارین (Unexpected).

Unexpected is kind of like a surprise, right?

Unexpected یه جور سورپرایزه، درست؟

But in common hours means during normal times, like in your normal life.

اما In common hours یعنی طی زمان عادی، مثلا توی زندگی روزمره‌ی عادیتون.

So maybe right now, during your normal life you imagine your big, big dream and you can’t imagine success.

پس شاید الان، طی زندگی عادیتون رویا‌ی بزرگتون رو متصور می‌شین و نمی‌تونین موفقیت رو تصور کنین.

It seems so difficult.

دشوار به نظر میاد.

It’s like “Oh my god.

اینطوری هستین که مثلا “اوه، یا خدا”.

” So this is sort of your normal time, your common hour.

پس، این یه جورایی زمان عادیتونه، زمان عام.

But if you take a big chance, if you really try, your success will be huge.

ولی اگه یه شانس بزرگ به دست بیارین، اگه واقعا سعی کنین، موفقیتتون بزرگ خواهد بود.

It will be bigger than you can imagine normally.

از چیزی که به صورت عادی تصور می‌کنین بزرگ‌تر خواهد بودش.

So in common hours means normally, during normal times, usually.

پس In common hours یعنی به صورت نرمال، طی زمان‌های نرمال، معمولا.

It has that idea.

این معنی رو داره.

Little bit later he uses the word liberal.

یکم بعدش کلمه‌ی Liberal (لیبرال) رو استفاده می‌کنه.

Liberal has a lot of different meanings and uses.

Liberal کلی معنی و استفاده‌ی متفاوت داره.

It can be used in a political way, but here it’s used in a much more general way.

می‌تونه به یه حالت سیاسی استفاده بشه، ولی اینجا به یه حالت خیلی کلی‌تری استفاده شده.

He says if you try to reach your dreams, then liberal laws will begin to happen around you.

می‌گه اگه سعی کنین به رویاهاتون برسین، بعدش دورتون قوانین لیبرال شروع به اتفاق افتادن می‌کنن.

So liberal here means flexible, free, open, tolerant.

پس اینجا Liberal یعنی منعطف، آزاد، باز، آزاده.

Okay, so it’s this idea of more flexible, more free, more tolerant and open.

خب، پس یه معنی منعطف‌تر بودن، آزاد‌تر بودن، آزاده‌تر بودن و باز بودنی داره.

So what he’s saying is that liberal laws, laws as in like religious laws, spiritual laws, scientific laws, physical laws.

پس چیزی که داره می‌گه اینه که قوانین لیبرال، مث قوانینی که توی مذهب هستن، قوانین روحی، قوانین علمی، قوانین فیزیکی.

He’s just saying that the universe or God or whatever will make things easier for you.

داره صرفا می‌گه کائنات یا خدا یا هر چی [که بهش باور دارین] مسائل رو براتون آسون‌تر می‌کنن.

That the more you try for your big, big dream that things will become more liberal.

که هر چه بیشتر واسه رویای بزرگتون تلاش کنین، مسائل براتون لیبرال‌تر می‌شه.

Your life situation will become more flexible.

شرایط زندگیتون منعطف‌تر می‌شه.

Your life situation will become more easy and free.

شرایط زندگیتون آسون و آزاد‌تر می‌شه.

Your life situation will become more open.

شرایط زندگیتون باز‌تر می‌شه.

So he’s saying that your experiences, your situation, your environment will become more liberal because you have this strong belief for your big, big dream.

Alright, next we have the verb, the word to establish.

بسیار خب، بعدش فعل و کلمه ی Establish (به معنی دایر کردن، بنا کردن، استقرار کردن) رو داریم.

To establish means to create, basically.

To establish اساسا یعنی ساختن.

So this situation will be created around you.

پس این موقعیت اطرافتون ساخته می‌شه.

It will be established around you, so to establish means to create, to start and create, to make.

اطرافتون برقرار می‌شه، پس To establish یعنی ساختن، شروع کردن به ساختن، درست کردن.

Okay, so again establish means to create, to make.

Alright, our next phrase “in proportion as,” we also say “in proportion to,” so in proportion as or in proportion to means equal to or in the same amount, in the same amount or equal to.

بسیار خب، عبارت بعدیمون In proportion as، و In proportion to هم می‌گیم، پس In proportion as یا In proportion to یعنی برابر با، یا به یه اندازه با، به یه اندازه یا برابر با.

These amounts equal each other.

So if one is less, the other is less.

I already talked about this next one in the main article but let me talk about it again, to build castles in the air.

من قبلا هم راجع به [عبارت] بعدیمون توی مقاله‌ی اصلی حرف زدم، ولی اجازه بدین یه بار دیگه درباره‌ش صحبت کنیم، To build castles in the air (به معنی روی هوا قلعه ساختن: خیال برای انجام کار‌هایی که شانس پایینی برای وقوع دارن، خیال باطل کردن).

He says if you have built castles in the air your work is not lost.

می‌گه اگه گه شما روی هوا قلعه درست کردین، عملتون از دست نرفته.

It’s not bad is what he’s saying.

می‌گه این چیز بدی نیست.

Building castles in the air is not bad.

روی هوا قلعه ساختن بد نیست.

So to build castles in the air, it’s an idiom and it means to dream something big, to have a big, big, big, big dream.

پس روی هوا قلعه ساختن یه اصطلاحه و یعنی خیال خیلی بزرگ کردن، رویای خیلی خیلی خیلی خیلی بزرگ داشتن.

Some people think this is negative, right?

بعضی آدما فکر می‌کنن که این منفیه، درسته؟

Oh you’re a dreamer.

[مثلا می‌گن] اوه تو خیال‌پردازی.

You’re not realistic.

واقع‌بین نیستی.

You’re a dreamer.

خیال‌پردازی.

You are always building castles in the air.

همه‌ش داری توی هوا قلعه می‌سازی.

You’re always dreaming.

همه‌ش داری رویا می‌بینی.

Dreaming something big, dreaming something big.

خیال یه چیز بزرگ کردن، خیال یه چیز بزرگ کردن.

Building castles in the air, to build castles in the air, to dream something big and wonderful.

Building castles in the air، To build castles in the air، خیال یه چیز بزرگ و فوق‌العاده داشتن.

Of course, he’s saying that’s great, that’s what you must do.

مشخصا داره می‌گه که این عالیه، این کاریه که باید بکنین.

If your dreams are small you won’t have any energy.

اگه رویاهاتون کوچیک باشه انرژی نخواهین داشت.

You won’t have any passion.

شور و شوقی نخواهین داشت.

Nothing happens.

اتفاقی نمیفته.

So he’s saying you should build castles in the air.

پس داره می‌گه باید روی هوا قلعه بسازین.

You should dream big.

باید بزرگ رویاپردازی کنین.

Then he says but the next step is you must put the foundations under them.

بعد می‌گه قدم بعدی اینه که شما باید Put the foundations under them (باید پِی‌ریزیشون کنین، بنیانشون رو بریزین).

So this is a metaphor, it’s kind of like poetry a little bit.

پس این یه مَثَله، یه جورایی یه ذره ادبیه.

He’s saying put the foundations under the castle in the air.

داره می‌گه زیر قلعه‌ای که روی هوا [ساختین] پِی بریزین.

What does that mean?

معنیش چی می‌شه؟

It’s a little complicated.

یه ذره پیچیده‌ست.

Well, a foundation is the bottom of a building.

خب، Foundation (به معنی پِی، فونداسیون، بنیان) می‌شه زیر ساختمون.

It has different meanings, this word foundation.

معانی مختلفی داره، کلمه‌ی Foundation.

But here we’re talking about the bottom of a building, kind of the floor and under the floor.

ولی اینجا ما داریم راجع یه زیر ساختمون، یه جورایی کف و زیر کف حرف می‌زنیم.

The whole building is on top of the foundations, it’s the bottom.

کل ساختمون روی پِی (Foundations) ساخته می‌شه، اون زیره.

So the foundation must be strong, right?

پس بنیان باید محکم باشه، مگه نه؟

You have to have a strong foundation, a strong bottom so you can build a big building on top.

باید یه پِی محکم، یه کف محکم داشته باشی تا بتونی یه ساختمون بزرگ روش بسازی.

So that’s the direct meaning, it’s the bottom of a building.

پس این شد معنی مستقیم، زیر ساختمون.

But what he’s really saying here is that you have to have actions to support your dreams. So if your dreams are in the air, they will fall unless you put actions under them, right?

ولی چیزی که اون درحقیقت داره می‌گه اینه که شما باید یه سری اعمالی داشته باشین تا از رویاهاتون پشتیبانی کنین، پس اگه رویاهاتون رو هوا باشن، قراره فرو بریزن مگه اینکه زیرشون اعمالتون رو قرار بدین، درست؟

He’s comparing dreams and a building.

داره رویا و ساختمون رو قیاس می‌کنه.

He’s comparing dreams and a castle.

داره رویا و قلعه رو قیاس می‌کنه.

He’s saying if you have a castle, if you have a big building in the air, you must put something under it.

داره می‌گه اگه یه قلعه، یه ساختمون بزرگ رو هوا دارین، باید زیرش یه چیزی قرار بدین.

You must support it, right, a foundation.

باید ازش پشتیبانی کنین، درسته، پِی.

So if a castle is a dream, the building is a dream, what’s the foundation?

پس اگه قلعه رویا باشه، ساختمون رویا باشه، پِی چیه؟

The foundation is action.

پِی می‌شه اعمال.

You have to put action or actions under your dreams. That’s how your dreams become real.

باید زیر رویا‌هاتون یه عمل یا اعمالی بریزین، اینطوریه که رویاهاتون به حقیقت می‌پیوندن.

You must support your dreams with actions.

باید از رویاهاتون با اعمالتون پشتیبانی کنین.

Diamonds are very expensive and big diamonds are very heavy.

And so she stopped.

Next, she asked her friends for help.

بعد، از دوستاش کمک خواست.

She established a team of builders to help her build the castle.

یه تیم از سازنده‌ها دایر کرد که واسه ساخت قلعه کمکش کنن.

Every day they worked on the castle.

هر روز روی قلعه کار کردن.

But they didn’t build a diamond castle.

ولی یه قلعه‌ی الماسی نساختن.

They built a huge castle out of gum.

یه قلعه‌ی بزرگ از آدامس ساختن.

But that’s not all.

ولی این همه‌ی قضیه نیست.

The foundation of the castle was made of spaghetti.

فونداسیون قلعه از اسپاگتی درست شده بود.

They built a gum castle with a spaghetti foundation.

یه قلعه‌ی آدامسی با فونداسیون اسپاگتی ساختن.

Eventually they finished the castle.

به تدریج [ساخت] قلعه رو تموم کردن.

And they all lived together in the castle, Inka and her friends.

و همه‌شون، اینکا و دوستاش توی قلعه زندگی کردن.

In fact, they lived happily ever after.

در واقع،از اون پس واسه همیشه به خوشی زندگی کردن.

She’ll want to live in this castle like a princess.

خواهد خواست که مث یه شاهزاده توی این قلعه زندگی کنه.

In fact, her dream will be to live in a castle like a princess by herself.

در واقع، رویاش این خواهد بودش که مث یه شاهزاده توی این قلعه، واسه خودش زندگی کنه.

That’s gonna be her dream.

این قراره رویاش باشه.

One day she’ll advance towards her dream.

یه روز اون به سمت رویاش پیش خواهد رفت.

She will take action.

اون شروع به عمل می‌کنه.

First, she’s gonna endeavor to build a castle out of diamonds.

اول، قراره تلاش کنه یه قلعه از الماس بسازه.

But there will be a problem.

ولی یه مشکلی خواهد بودش.

And diamonds, big diamonds, are very heavy.

So she’ll stop trying to build a diamond castle.

پس اون دست از ساختن یه قلعه‌ی الماسی خواهد کشید.

Next she’ll ask her friends for help.

بعد از دوستاش کمک خواهد خواست.

She’ll establish a team of builders.

یه تیم از سازنده‌ها دایر خواهد کرد.

They’re gonna work every day building the castle.

قراره هر روز کار کنن و قلعه رو بسازن.

Every day they’ll go to work.

هر روز کار خواهند کرد.

Every day they’ll work and work and work to build the castle.

هر روز کار و کار و کار خواهند کرد که قلعه رو بسازن.

But they won’t build a normal castle.

ولی اونا یه قلعه‌ی عادی نخواهند ساخت.

They won’t build a diamond castle.

یه قلعه‌ی الماسی نخواهند ساخت.

They’ll build a castle out of gum.

یه قلعه از آدامس خواهند ساخت.

They’re gonna build a huge, giant, super-big gum castle.

قراره یه قلعه آدامسی بزرگ، غول‌آسا، اَبَر‌گنده بسازن.

But that’s not all.

ولی این همه‌ی قضیه نیست.

They’ll build a spaghetti foundation under the castle.

اونا قراره یه فونداسیون [از جنس] اسپاگتی زیر قلعه بسازن.

The castle will have a spaghetti foundation.

قلعه قراره یه فونداسیون از جنس اسپاگتی داشته باشه.

It’ll be a gum castle with a spaghetti foundation.

قراره یه قلعه‌ی آدامسی با فونداسیون اسپاگتی باشه.

Now when they finish, Inka won’t live alone in the castle, no, no, no.

حالا وقتی تمومش می‌کنن، اینکا قرار نیست تنها اونجا زندگی کنه، نه، نه، نه.

She’s gonna invite all her friends to live with her and they will.

قراره همه‌ی دوستاش رو دعوت کنه که پیشش زندگی کنن و اونا هم همینکارو می‌کنن.

They’ll all live happily ever after in the gum castle with the spaghetti foundation.

همه‌شون قراره از اون پس به خوشی توی اون قلعه‌ی آدامسی با فونداسیون اسپاگتی زندگی کنن.
