This topic is one of my favorites it’s called “Break Rules.
این یکی از موضوع‌های مورد علاقه‌م هستش به اسم «قوانین رو بشکن».
” Break Rules… it’s kind of my motto in life.
قوانین رو بشکن… یه جورایی شعار من توی زندگیه.
Let’s begin.
بیاین شروع کنیم.
Now this comes from Seth Godin again; another section of Seth Godin’s book.
حالا این دوباره از سث گودین گرفته شده؛ یه بخش دیگه از کتاب سث گودین.
And, if you remember, Seth Godin is an Internet Marketing expert.
و اگه به خاطر داشته باشین، سث گودین یه خبره‌ی بازاریابی اینترنتیه.
He started his own Internet Marketing Company.
اون شرکت بازاریابی اینترنتی خودش رو راه انداخته.
He became very, very successful, super rich and famous and all that.
اون خیلی خیلی موفق، اَبَرپولدار و مشهور و همه این حرفا شده.
And then he sold his company and now he writes books about Internet Marketing.
و بعد شرکتش رو فروخت و الان اون راجع به بازاریابی اینترنتی کتاب می‌نویسه.
More importantly, he writes books about success, especially success in business, success in your career.
مهم‌تر از اون، اون کتابایی راجع به موفقیت می‌نویسه، به خصوص موفقیت توی تجارت، موفقیت توی حرفه‌تون.
And I absolutely love his books, I love his attitude and I follow his same approach.
و من شدیدا عاشق کتاباشم، عاشق نگرششم و همون رویکرد ایشون رو دنبال می‌کنم.
I have his same values and this is one of the big ones, break rules!
من هم همون ارزش‌های مشابه ایشون رو دارم و این یکی از بزرگاشه، قوانین رو بشکن.
I like to break rules.
من شکستن قوانین رو دوست دارم.
In fact, a lot of the members on our Effortless English Club Forum call me “Rebel Number One”.
در واقع، کلی از اعضای تالار باشگاه انگلیسی بدون‌زحمت به من به من می‌گن «اونی که یاغیه».
It’s kind of my nickname on the Forums.
این توی تالار یه جورایی نام مستعارمه.
Maybe I should make that my official title, not Director of Effortless English, but Rebel Number One.
شاید باید اینو بکنم عنوان اصلیم، «مدیر انگلیسی بدون‌زحمت» نه، بلکه «اونی که یاغیه».
I like it because, in fact, our Effortless English Club is a club of rebels.
دوستش دارم بخاطر اینکه در واقع باشگاه انگلیسی بدون‌زحمتمون یه باشگاهی از یاغیاست.
We don’t like to follow the rules.
ما دوست نداریم قوانین رو دنبال کنیم.
We don’t like to do things the normal way.
ما دوست نداریم کارا رو به روش عادیش انجام بدیم.
We don’t continue doing stupid things again and again.
ما به دوباره و دوباره انجام دادن کارای احمقانه ادامه نمی‌دیم.
We don’t follow the old, boring, traditional methods of learning, we break the rules.
ما متدهای یادگیری قدیمی، خسته‌کننده، و رو دنبال نمی‌کنیم، ما قوانین رو می‌شکونیم.
We follow a new method, a new way.
ما از یه متد جدید، یه راه جدید پیروی می‌کنیم.
We succeed because we are rebels and now it’s your turn to join us.
ما موفق می‌شیم چون که یاغی‌ایم و حالا نوبت توئه که به ما ملحق شی.
It is your turn to become a rebel, just like us, a rebel English learner, a rebel in your job, a rebel in your life.
نوبت توئه که به یه یاغی تبدیل بشی، درست مثل ما، یه زبان‌آموز یاغی، یه یاغی توی شغلت، یه یاغی توی زندگیت.
All right, I’m going to read from Seth Godin’s book and then I’ll come back and talk a little more about this idea of being a rebel.
بسیار خب، من قراره از کتاب سث گودین بخونم و بعد بر می‌گردم و یکم بیشتر راجع به این مفهوم یاغی بودن حرف می‌زنم.
Here we go:
می‌ریم که داشته باشیم:
“Obedience works fine on the well-organized, standardized, factory floor.
«مطیع بودن توی یه طبقه‌ی کارخونه‌ی کاملا منظم و استانداردشده خوب جواب می‌ده».
But what happens when we start using our heads not our hands?
«اما وقتی ما شروع به استفاده کردن از سرمون می‌کنیم و نه دست‌هامون، چه اتفاقی رخ می‌ده»؟
What happens when our colors change from blue to white?
«وقتی رنگمون از آبی به سفید تغییر پیدا می‌کنه، چه اتفاقی می‌افته»؟
White-collar workers don’t get paid to follow the rules.
«به کارمندای یقه‌سفید واسه پیروی از قوانین پول داده نمی‌شه».
“The big difference between today and the old factory economy is that instead of working with a drill or a machine we work with laptops and telephones.
«تمایز بزرگ بین امروزه روز و اقتصاد کارخونه‌ای قدیمی اینه که به جای کار کردن با یه دریل یا یه ماشین ما با لپتاپ‌ها و تلفن‌هامون کار می‌کنیم».
What’s neat about this work is that it’s different every day.
«چیزی که راجع به این نوع کار قشنگه اینه که هر روز متفاوته».
We actually get a lot of freedom to decide what to do next and our skill in making that decision has a lot to do with our productivity and our success.
«ما در واقع کلی آزادی واسه اینکه تصمیم بگیریم بعدش چی کار کنیم، و مهارتمون واسه اتخاذ کردن این تصمیم خیلی به بازدهی و موفقیتمون ربط داره».
“That’s why your boss allows you the time to read this book, to shop online or to go to lunch meetings because she’s waiting for you to break the rules.
«بخاطر همینه که رئیستون بهتون این زمان رو می‌ده که فلان کتاب رو بخونین، که اینترنتی خرید کنین یا به جلسات نهار برین بخاطر اینکه اون منتظره که شما قوانین رو بشکونین».
She’s waiting for you to create big gains in productivity by using your head.
«اون منتظر شماست تا با استفاده از سرتون دستاوردهای بزرگی برای بازدهی ایجاد کنین».
“Yes, there are exceptions.
«آره، استثنائاتی هم هست».
There are clerks who have every keystroke measured, but that’s not really a white-collar job that’s a factory job where you don’t get dirty, instead you get carpal tunnel syndrome.
«متصدی‌هایی هم هستن که تک‌تک دفعاتی که کلیدهای صفحه‌کلید فشرده می‌شن رو اندازه می‌گیرن، اما اون در واقع جز مشاغل یقه‌سفید نیستش، اون یه شغل کارخونه‌ایه که توش کثیف نمی‌شین، به جاش سندروم تونل کارپال می‌گیرین».
“I’m talking about the vast majority of jobs in our organizations, schools, governments and corporations.
«من دارم راجع به یه طیف وسیعی از مشاغل توی سازمان‌ها، مدارس، دولت‌ها، و شرکت‌هامون حرف می‌زنم».
You don’t have to wear a factory uniform and you’re expected to contribute more than what’s being asked.
«شما مجبور نیستین یونیفورم کارخونه‌ای بپوشین و ازتون انتظار می‌ره تا بیش از چیزی که ازتون خواسته شده ارائه بدین».
The thing is white-collar workers, deep down, are petrified to do exactly what it is they actually got hired to do.
«قضیه اینه که کارمندای یقه‌سفید، تو عمق وجود خودشون، از اینکه دقیقا همون کاریو که در واقع بخاطرش استخدام شدن رو انجام بدن وحشت دارن».
They are petrified to be different.
«اونا از متفاوت بودن وحشت دارن».
“We all know that we could get replaced tomorrow by someone else, almost as good as us, who is willing to work for half as much money.
«همه‌ی ما می‌دونیم که ممکنه فردا با یکی دیگه، که تقریبا به اندازه‌ی خودمون خوبه و حاضره با نصف حقوق کار کنه، جایگزین شیم».
We don’t want to blow it.
«ما نمی‌خوایم که توش گند بزنیم».
We want to be given instructions, not to invent them.
«می‌خوایم که بهمون دستورالعمل داده بشه، نه اینکه ابداعش کنیم».
After all, we know how to follow instructions.
«بالاخره هر چی نباشه ما می‌دونیم چطور دستورالعمل‌ها رو دنبال کنیم».
That’s what we learned in school.
«این چیزیه که توی مدرسه یاد گرفتیم».
“We invented the myth that doing what your boss says is the best way to keep your job, but in a white-collar setting this isn’t the right answer.
«ما این افسانه رو از خودمون در آوردیم که انجام دادن چیزی که رئیست می‌گه بهترین روش واسه حفظ کردن شغلته، اما تو زمینه‌ی یقه‌سفید، این پاسخ درست نیست».
Nine times out of ten a white-collar worker’s reflex is to ask ‘What do you think I should do?
«از هر ۱۰ دفعه ۹ بارش واکنش یه کارمند یقه‌سفید اینطوریه که “شما فکر می‌کنید که من باید چی کار کنم”»؟
‘ The easiest way to avoid pain, it seems, is to follow someone else’s instructions, but that is a recipe for failure.
«به نظر می‌آد راحت‌ترین روش واسه اجتناب از درد اینه که دستور‌العمل‌های یکی دیگه رو دنبال کنی، اما این طرز تهیه‌ی شکست هستش».
To succeed in your career, to really succeed, you have to break the rules.
«برای موفق شدن توی حرفه‌تون، برای واقعا موفق شدن، شما باید قوانین رو بشکونین».
Okay, that’s a nice little section from Seth Godin’s book.

And I love it because the Effortless English Club is all about breaking the rules.

We break every traditional English learning rule.
ما تک‌تک قوانین سنتی یادگیری انگلیسی رو می‌شکونیم.
We don’t do anything normally.
ما هیچ چیزی رو به شکل عادی‌ای انجام نمی‌دیم.
Traditional schools teach grammar, grammar, grammar, grammar, grammar.

You memorize grammar, terms, the past progressive, possessives blah-blah-blah.

You must have a textbook and we have to have tests and grades and scores.

Well, we break those rules, too.
خب ما اون قوانین رو هم می‌شکونیم.
We never give you a test and we never use textbooks.
ما هیچوقت بهتون آزمون نمی‌دیم و هیچوقت از کتب درسی استفاده نمی‌کنیم.
We use only real English, the real spontaneous English that I’m speaking right now.
ما فقط از انگلیسی واقعی استفاده می‌کنیم، همون انگلیسی واقعی خودجوشی که من الان دارم صحبت می‌کنم.
Real English books that were written for native speakers, they weren’t written for English students.
کتب انگلیسی واقعی‌ای که توسط متکلمین بومی نوشته شدن، واسه شاگردای زبان انگلیسی نوشته نشدن.
We never use textbooks.
ما هیچوقت از کتب درسی استفاده نمی‌کنیم.
We never memorize and study hard with a lot of effort, not vocabulary, not grammar.
ما هیچوقت حفظ و مطالعه‌ی شدید با کلی زحمت انجام نمی‌دیم، نه دایره لغات، نه گرامر.
No, we listen easily and relax.
نه، ما به راحتی گوش می‌دیم و ریلکس می‌کنیم.
We listen repeatedly again and again and we learn intuitively, subconsciously, effortlessly.
ما دوباره و دوباره با تکرّر گوش می‌دیم و به صورت شهودی، نیمه‌آگاهانه، و بدون‌زحمت یاد می‌گیریم.
We don’t do boring drills and exercises, right?
ما مشق و تمارین خسته‌کننده انجام نمی‌دیم، مگه نه؟
You get in a pair with another student and you practice saying some speech or some sentence or some dialogue.
با یه دانش‌آموز دیگه جفت می‌شین و یه سری گفتار یا جمله یا دیالوگ رو تمرین می‌کنین.
Hell, no, we never do that.
عمرا، ما هیچوقت این کار رو نمی‌کنیم.
No, we listen and we listen and we listen and then we get on the Forums and we write to each other and communicate – real communication – and then you get on Skype and you talk to each other.
نه، ما گوش می‌دیم و گوش می‌دیم و گوش می‌دیم و بعد می‌ریم تو تالار واسه همدیگه می‌نویسیم و معاشرت می‌کنیم – معاشرت واقعی – و بعد می‌رین تو اسکایپ و با هم حرف می‌زنین.
Real communication focused on meaning.

In regular schools they always follow the rules.

They tell you your mistakes all the time.
اونا دائما اشتباهاتتون رو می‌گن.
They’re very worried about mistakes in normal schools.

We never worry about mistakes, never!

We worry about communication.
ما نگران مکالمه کردنیم.
We want to be understood.

We want to communicate clearly.

We worry about meaning, but never do we worry about mistakes.

We know mistakes are necessary.

That’s how we learn.

So I never correct your mistakes, never, never, never.

We’re always breaking the rules.

I, as a teacher, always break these rules.

Because you’re going to speak excellent English and all the people following the rules, all the people going to the normal schools, memorizing grammar, taking tests, they’re never going to do it.
بخاطر اینکه شما قراره عالی انگلیسی حرف بزنین و همه‌ی آدمایی که قوانین رو دنبال می‌کنن، همه‌ی آدمایی که به مدارس عادی می‌رن، گرامر حفظ می‌کنن، آزمون می‌دن، اونا هیچوقت قرار نیست اینکار رو کنن.
Or maybe they will, but it’s going to take them years and years and years, much longer than you.
یا شاید هم بکنن، ولی قراره سال‌های سال ازشون وقت ببره، خیلی بیشتر از شما.
And they’re going to suffer and they’re going to hate it.
و قراره که رنج ببرن و ازش متنفر بشن.
They’re going to be bored and tired and upset and frustrated and you’re going to be smiling and moving and jumping around and laughing while you learn English.
اونا قراره دلزده و خسته و ناراحت و کلافه بشن و شما قراره وقتی دارین انگلیسی یاد می‌گیرین در حال لبخند زدن و تحرک و اینور اونور پریدن و خندیدن باشین.
You’re going to speak better than they do, your vocabulary is going to be better, your fluency will be better, your pronunciation will be better, because you break the rules.
شما قراره بهتر از اونا صحبت کنین، دایره لغاتتون قراره بهتر باشه، سلاستتون بهتر خواهد بود، تلفظتون بهتر خواهد بود، بخاطر اینکه شما قوانین رو می‌شکونین.
It’s time for you to do this in other parts of your life, too, especially your job or career.
وقتشه که این رو توی دیگه بخش‌های زندگیتون هم انجام بدین، به خصوص شغل و حرفه‌تون.
In tough economic times the people who break the rules do the best.
توی این دوران اقتصادی سخت، آدمایی که قوانین رو می‌شکونن بهترینن.
They get noticed, they have something special.
اونا توجه رو جلب می‌کنن، اونا یه چیز خاصی دارن.
If you follow the rules you’re like everybody else.
اگه شما قوانین رو دنبال کنین، مثل بقیه آدمایین.
That means it’s easy to cut your job.
این یعنی برچیدن شغلتون آسونه.
It’s easy to say goodbye to you, it’s easy to fire you, because you’re not special.
خداحافظی کردن باهاتون راحته، اخراج کردنتون راحته، بخاطر اینکه شما خاص نیستین.
Why should they keep you?
چرا باید نگهتون دارن؟
But if you break the rules, you do something great, you do something different and you are different because most people are afraid to do that.
ولی اگه قوانین رو بشکونین، یه کار فوق‌العاده می‌کنین، یه کار متفاوت می‌کنین و متفاوتین بخاطر اینکه اکثر افراد می‌ترسن که این کار رو کنن.
So you want to be remarkable, outstanding, you want to have a great career, you want to do anything well, more than well, you want to do it fantastically well, you want to be great at it, you have to break the rules.
پس شما می‌خواین که چشمگیر و برجسته باشین، می‌خواین که کسب‌وکار فوق‌العاده‌ای داشته باشین، می‌خواین که هر چیزی رو به خوبی انجام بدین، حتی بیشتر از خوب، می‌خواین که به شکل فوق‌العاده‌ای خوب انجامش بدین، می‌خواین که توش عالی باشین، شما باید که قوانین رو بشکونین.
What are the rules?
قوانین چیا هستن؟
The rules in any area of life are what most people do.
قوانین، توی هر بعدی از زندگی، کارایی هستن که اکثر آدما انجام می‌دن.
It’s the normal, acceptable thing to do.
اون کار عادی و قابل قبولی که انجام می‌شه.
So if you follow the rules you will be normal and acceptable, just like everyone else.
پس اگه از قوانین پیروی کنین عادی و قابل قبول خواهین بود، درست مثل هر کس دیگه‌ای.
Which means you will get the same results as everyone else.
که به این معنیه که شما همون نتایجی رو می‌گیرین که بقیه می‌گیرن.
You’ll be paid an average amount of money.
یه مقدار متوسطی حقوق خواهین گرفت.
You’ll be kind of bored at your job because most people are kind of bored at their job.
یه جورایی توی شغلتون دلزده خواهین بود چون اکثر آدما یه جورایی توی مشاغلشون دلزده‌ان.
You’ll improve, slowly, because that’s what most people do.
شما به کندی پیشرفت خواهین کرد، چون این کاریه که اکثر آدما انجام می‌دن.
If you want more you’ve got to break the rules.
اگه بیشتر از این می‌خواین، باید که قوانین رو بشکونین.
You have to do what other people don’t do.
باید کاری رو کنین که آدمای دیگه انجام نمی‌دن.
You have to do what other people are afraid to do.
شما باید کاری رو کنین که آدمای دیگه می‌ترسن انجامش بدن.
That’s how you improve faster and succeed more, in your job, in your career, in your business, in English learning, in anything.
اینطوریه که توی شغلتون، توی حرفه‌تون، توی تجارتتون، توی یادگیری انگلیسیتون، تو همه چی سریع‌تر پیشرفت می‌کنین و بیشتر موفق می‌شین.
Don’t be a cow.
گاو نباشین!
Don’t follow the herd.
دنبال گله راه نیفتین.
Don’t do what everyone else is doing.
همون کاری که بقیه می‌گن رو انجام ندین.
Break the rules.
قوانین رو بشکونین.
Be a rebel.

Hello, welcome to the vocabulary lesson for “Break Rules.
درود، به درس دایره لغات برای فصل «قوانین رو بشکن» خوش اومدین.
” Let’s begin.
بیاین شروع کنیم.
First is the word obedience.
کلمه‌ی اولمون Obediance (اطاعت، تمکین) هستش.
Obedience means following the rules, right?
Obediance یعنی پیروی از قوانین، درست؟
The verb is obey.
فعلش می‌شه Obey.
To obey means to follow rules; to do what you are told to do.
To obey یعنی دنبال کردن قواعد، انجام دادن چیزی که بهتون گفته شده انجام بدین.
So obedience is the noun.
پس Obedience اسمشه.
It’s the action; it’s the situation of following rules.
اون عمله، اون حالت پیروی از قوانینه.
So he says “Obedience works fine, if you work in a factory.
پس اون می‌گه «تکمین جواب می‌ده، وقتی توی یه کارخونه کار می‌کنی».
” So following the rules works fine, if you work in a factory.
پس پیروی از قوانین خوبه، اگه توی یه کارخونه کار کنی.
If you work in a factory you need to have obedience.
وقتی توی یه کار خونه کار می‌کنی باید حرف‌شنوی داشته باشی.
You need to follow the rules because you have to do an exact little job, again, again, again, again.
نیازه که قواعد رو دنبال کنی بخاطر اینکه باید همون کار کوچیک همیشگی رو دوباره، دوباره، دوباره، و دوباره انجام بدی.
If you change it then it can destroy everything.
اگه تغییرش بدی ممکنه همه چیز رو خراب کنی.
So obedience, following the rules, doing what you’re told is good, if you work in a factory.
پس Obedience، پیروی از قوانین، انجام دادن چیزی که بهت گفته شده، خوبه، اگه توی یه کارخونه کار کنی.
He says “Obedience works fine in a standardized factory.
اون می‌گه «حرف‌شنوی توی یه کارخونه‌ی استانداردشده خوب جواب می‌ده».
” Stan-dar-dized, standardized means organized.
Standardized (استداندارد شده)، Standardized یعنی سازمان‌یافته.
It means everything is the same.
یعنی همه‌چیز مشابه همه.
So standardized means everything is standard, everything is the same.
پس Standardized یعنی همه‌چی استاندارده، همه‌چی مشابهه.
For example, we have standardized tests.
به عنوان مثال، ما آزمون‌های استانداردشده داریم.
A standardized test means a test that is always the same.
یک آزمون استانداردشده یعنی آزمونی که همیشه یه چیزه.
It always is the same.
همیشه همونه.
It means if I take it or you take it or someone else takes it, it’s the same result, the same test.

A blue-collar job is a factory job, okay, so blue collar means factory.

Why do we say blue collar?
چرا بهش می‌گیم یقه آبی؟
Well, it’s because in the past a lot of factory workers they wore blue uniforms, all right, so we say a blue-collar job.
خب، بخاطر اینکه تو گذشته بسیاری از کارگرای کارخونه یونیفورم‌های آبی می‌پوشیدن، بسیار خب، پس ما بهش می‌گیم شغل یقه آبی.
It’s a factory job.

You’re using your hands, your using your body in the job, a blue-collar job.

Then we have white-collar jobs.
بعدش ما مشاغل یقه سفید رو داریم.
White-collar jobs are office jobs.
مشاغل یقه سفید، مشاغل ادارین.
They’re intellectual jobs, mental jobs, you’re using your head, mostly, your mind.
مشاغل فکرین، مشاغل ذهنی، دارین از سرتون استفاده می‌کنین، بیشتر از ذهنتون.
And, again, of course, it’s because, you know, most business people who work in an office they have white shirts, right?
و دوباره، مشخصا بخاطر اینکه می‌دونین دیگه، اکثر افراد کسب‌وکار که توی اداره کار می‌کنن پیراهن سفید دارن، درست؟
They wear white shirts.

The collar – the part around the neck – is white, so a white-collar job is an office job or a business job.
The collar (یقه) -قسمت دور گردن- سفیده، پس یه شغل یقه سفید یه شغل اداری یا تجاریه.
It’s a job where you use your brain, mostly, not your hands.
یه شغلیه که شما از اغلب مغزتون استفاده می‌کنین، نه دستاتون.
You’re not building stuff, you’re not in a factory, you’re thinking.

It’s your brain that’s most important, that’s a white-collar job.

Okay, so he’s talking about white-collar jobs.
خب، پس اون داره راجع به مشاغل یقه سفید صحبت می‌کنه.
For a white-collar job you need to break the rules, it’s the opposite of a blue-collar job.
واسه یه کار یقه سفید شما نیاز دارین که قوانین رو بشکونین، این بر عکس یه کار یقه آبیه.
Blue-collar job, you must follow the rules because factories need everything to be the same.
کار یقه آبی؛ شما باید از قواعد پیروی کنین بخاطر اینکه توی کارخونه‌ها نیاز اینه که همه چی همون باشه.
But a white-collar job, usually the company wants you to do something new, something great, to make improvements, to do better and better and better, to be more productive, which is our next word, productive or productivity.
ولی توی یه کار یقه سفید، معمولا شرکت ازتون می‌خواد که یه چیز جدید انجام بدین، یه چیز فوق‌العاده، که بهبود ببخشین، که بهتر و بهتر و بهتر انجام بدین، که بیشتر کارامد(Productive) باشین، که کلمه‌ی بعدیمونه، Productive یا Productivity.
Productivity is the noun, productive is the adjective.
Productivity اسمه، Productive صفته.
Productive means efficient.
Productive یعنی موثر.
It means doing more work with less effort or less time, so doing more with less effort.
یعنی یه کاری رو با زحمت کمتر یا زمان کمتر انجام بدین، پس کار بیشتر کردن با زحمت کمتر.
That’s productive.
این می‌شه Productive.
So, for example, let’s say you’re building a car or building cars and we have two teams.
پس، به عنوان مثال، مثلا بگیم شما دارین یه ماشین یا ماشین‌هایی رو می‌سازین و دو تا هم تیم داریم.
One team builds five cars in one day.
یه تیم تو یه روز پنج تا ماشین می‌سازه.
Another team builds 10 cars in one day.
تیم دیگه تو یه روز ده تا ماشین می‌سازه.
The second team is more productive, right?
تیم دومیه سازنده‌تره، درسته؟
Same time, but they did more work, so that’s productivity.
همون زمان، ولی اونا کار بیشتری انجام دادن، پس این شد Productivity.
Productivity is the amount of work you do in a certain time or with a certain amount of effort.
Productivity اون مقدار کاریه که شما توی یه زمان مشخص یا با یه مقدار تلاش مشخصی انجام می‌دین.
So more productivity means you do more in less time or with fewer people or with less effort.
پس بهره‌وری (Productivity) بیشتر یعنی شما کار بیشتری رو توی زمان کمتری با افراد کمتری یا زحمت کمتری انجام بدین.
So more for less, that’s productivity.
پس [کار] بیشتر با [زحمت] کمتر، این می‌شه Productivity.
And that’s what most companies want for white-collar workers, they want more productivity.
و این چیزیه که اکثر شرکتا از کارکنان یقه سفید می‌خوان، اونا بهره‌وری بیشتر می‌خوان.

Next he talks about examples of “clerks who have every keystroke measured.
بعد اون راجع به نمونه‌هایی صحبت می‌کنه که متصدی‌ها تک تک دفعاتی که دکمه‌های صفحه کلید فشرده می‌شن (Keystroke) رو اندازه می‌گیرن.
” What he’s saying is that in some white-collar jobs, in some offices, it’s like a factory, right?
چیزی که اون داره می‌گه اینه که تو بعضی از مشاغل یقه سفید، بعضی ادارات مث کارگاه می‌مونن، درسته؟
They measure every keystroke.
اونا تک تک دفعاتی که دکمه‌های صفحه کلید فشرده می‌شن رو اندازه می‌گیرن.
It means you’re typing on your computer and the computer has keys, right?
یعنی شما دارین روی کامپیوترتون تایپ می‌کنین و کامپیوتره یه سری کلید داره دیگه، درست؟
Keystroke means every time you hit a key on your computer.
Keystroke یعنی هر باری که شما روی یه کلیدی رو کامپیوترتون می‌زنین.
So he’s, he’s exaggerating, but he’s saying that some jobs, even office jobs, it’s like a factory.
پس اون، اون داره اغراق می‌کنه، ولی داره می‌گه که بعضی از مشاغل، حتی مشاغل اداری، مث کارگاهه.
The company is measuring everything you do.
شرکت داره هر کاری که می‌کنین رو اندازه‌گیری می‌کنه.
They’re watching you all the time.
دارن دائما شما رو می‌پان.
He said “That’s not really a white-collar job, that’s just a factory job where you stay clean.
اون گفتش که «اون دیگه واقعا یه شغل یقه سفید نیس، اون یه شغل کارگاهیه که صرفا شما توش تمییز می‌مونین».
” It’s just a factory job where you’re in an office, but the mentality is still like a factory.
صرفا یه شغل کارخونه‌ایه که شما توی یه اداره قرار دارین، ولی ذهنیتش بازم مث یه کارخونه‌ست.
They’re watching you.
اونا دارن شما رو می‌پان.
They’re measuring everything you do.
دارن همه کارایی که می‌کنین رو اندازه می‌گیرن.
You don’t have freedom.
شما آزادی ندارین.
You don’t have creativity.
خلاقیت ندارین.
You’re not really using your brain.
در واقع از مغزتون استفاده نمی‌کنین.
White-collar jobs require you to use your brain, require you to be creative, require you to make decisions.
مشاغل یقه سفید ایجاب می‌کنن که شما از مغزتون استفاده کنین، ایجاب می‌کنن که خلاق باشین، ایجاب می‌کنن که تصمیم‌گیری کنین.
So he’s saying “These jobs they’re just factory jobs in an office and you can get carpal tunnel syndrome at that job”.
پس اون داره می‌گه «این مشاغل صرفا مشاغل کارخونه‌ای هستن که توی یه اداره‌ن و شما ممکنه تو اون شغل سندرم تونل کارپال بگیرین».
Carpal tunnel is a problem with your wrist, right?
سندرم تونل کارپال یه مشکل توی مچه، درست؟
In your hand.
توی دستتون.
It means you get pain, a lot of pain in your wrist and your hand because you’re typing too much on a computer.
یعنی شما توی مچتون و توی دستتون کلی درد دارین بخاطر اینکه دارین روی کامپیوتر زیادی تایپ می‌کنین.
So people who just type, type, type on the computer a lot, sometimes they have this problem where they get terrible pain in their hands because they never rest, they’re just typing, typing, typing all day, every day.
پس افرادی که صرفا کلی روی یه کامپیوتر تایپ، تایپ و تایپ می‌کنن، بعضی مواقع این مشکل رو دارن که دستاشون درد وحشتناکی می‌گیره بخاطر اینکه اونا هیچوقت استراحت نمی‌کنن، اونا فقط دارن هر روز کل روز رو تایپ، تایپ و تایپ می‌کنن.
So that pain is called carpal tunnel syndrome or just carpal tunnel.

It’s that pain it’s that problem that people get from typing too much.

Our next word is petrified, petrified.
کلمه‌ی بعدیمون Petrified (متحجر شدن؛ کنایه از ترس شدید) هستش، Petrified.
He said “Most workers are petrified to break the rules.
اون گفتش «بعضی از کارمندا از شکستن قوانین سخت در وحشتن».
” To be petrified means to be very scared, to be super scared.
To be petrified یعنی خیلی ترسیدن، شدیدا در ترس بودن.
They’re scared to break the rules.
اونا می‌ترسن که قواعد رو بشکونن.
They’re super scared, they are petrified, so to be petrified means to be very, very scared, to be very, very, very afraid.

He said “Most workers are afraid to blow it.
اون گفت «اکثر کارمندا می‌ترسن که گند بزنن (To blow it)».
” They’re afraid to blow it.
اونا می‌ترسن که گند بزنن.
To blow it means to fail or make a big mistake.
To blow it یعنی شکست خوردن یا یه اشتباه بزرگ کردن.
So if we’re talking about the past you say “Man, I blew it!
پس اگه داریم راجع به گذشته صحبت می‌کنیم می‌تونین بگین «پسر، من گند زدم (Blew it)»!
I really blew it.
من واقعا گند زدم.
” It means I really made a mistake.
یعنی من واقعا اشتباه کردم.
I made a big mistake.
یه اشتباه بزرگ مرتکب شدم.
I made a big mistake, I blew it.
من یه اشتباه بزرگ مرتکب شدم، گند زدم.
So “to blow it”, that phrase, that whole phrase means to make a mistake and really to make a big mistake.
پس To blow it، این عبارت، کل این عبارت یعنی اشتباه کردن و واقعا یه اشتباه بزرگ مرتکب شدن.
So he says most workers are afraid to blow it.
پس اون می‌گه اکثر کارمندا می‌ترسن که گند بزنن.
They’re afraid to make a big mistake.
اونا می‌ترسن که یه اشتباه بزرگ مرتکب شن.
Most people, in general, are afraid to blow it, they’re afraid to make mistakes.
اکثر آدما، به صورت کلی، می‌ترسن که گند بزنن، اونا می‌ترسن که اشتباه کنن.
So they’re careful, so they follow the rules because they’re afraid, because they’re petrified.
بنابراین مواظبن، پس از قوانین پیروی می‌کنن بخاطر اینکه می‌ترسن، بخاطر اینکه وحشت دارن.
He said “Most workers want to be given instructions.
اون گفتش «اکثر کارکنان می‌خوان که بهشون دستورالعمل داده بشه».
They don’t want to invent instructions.
اونا نمی‌خوان که دستورالعمل رو اختراع کنن (Invent).
” And, of course, invent means to create something new.
و خب Invent یعنی یه چیز جدیدی بسازی، یه چیزی درست کنی که کاملا جدیده.
So to invent means to create something new, to make something that’s totally new.

So if you invent instructions you make new instructions, so he says that’s what you need to do.

It’s not real, it’s a story or a belief that’s not true, that’s not real.

So he says “We believe that we should follow the rules.

In the future there’ll be a guy named Andre.

In fact, he’s going to be petrified to try anything new.
در واقع، اون قراره که از انجام دادن هر چیز جدیدی وحشت داشته باشه.
He’ll always be afraid, all the time.

And, ah, his productivity will be very low.

And so, one day, he’s going to be fired.

He’s going to constantly try new things every day in every part of his life, all the time, breaking the rules, trying new things.

And one day he’ll invent something amazing, he’ll invent an amazing new toothbrush.
