بخش اول – گربه‌ها و رازها
In English, there is a common idiom “let the cat out of the bag”.
در انگلیسی، اصطلاح رایجی وجود دارد «گربه را از کیسه بیرون دادن».
It means to tell a secret.
یعنی گفتن راز.
But where did this idiom start?
اما این اصطلاح از کجا شروع شد؟
It came from a part of England.
از بخشی از انگلیس آمد.
Long ago, people there went from town to town to sell things like vegetables, clothes, and pigs.
مدت‌ها پیش، مردم آنجا از شهری به شهر دیگر می‌رفتند و چیزهایی مانند سبزیجات، لباس و خوک می‌فروختند.
They had strong beliefs about honesty.
آن‌ها اعتقادات شدیدی درباره‌ی صداقت داشتند.
They didn’t like lying.
دروغ گفتن را دوست نداشتند.
One day, a man went to the town’s center to sell things.
روزی، مردی برای فروش چیزها به مرکز شهر رفت.
“I have a baby pig for sale!
او گفت: «من یه بچه‌خوک برای فروش دارم!
It won’t cost much,” he said.
هزینه‌ش زیاد نمی‌شه.
He held the animal above his head.

His style was different from honest people’s style.
سبک او با سبک افراد صادق متفاوت بود.
He was a master of tricking people and lying.
او استاد فریب مردم و دروغ گفتن بود.
A woman named Beth looked at his pig.
زنی به نام بث به خوکش نگاه کرد.
He offered her the pig for one gold coin.
او خوک را در عوض یک سکه طلا به او پیشنهاد داد.
That was a very small amount.
مبلغ بسیار کمی بود.
Beth gave him the coin.
بث سکه را به او داد.
He put it in his pocket.
او سکه را در جیبش گذاشت.
He walked ahead of Beth to get the pig.

He gave her a closed bag and said, “Here’s your pig.

” He then left very quickly.

Beth looked at the bag’s surface.

It was moving.

A cat was inside!
گربه‌ای داخل آن بود!
“He tricked me!
گفت: «من رو فریب داد!
That isn’t proper,” she said.
این درست نیست».
Later, the man returned to trick more people.
بعداً، مرد بازگشت تا افراد بیشتری را فریب دهد.
Beth saw him and the memory of the cat came back.
بث او را دید و خاطره‌ی گربه برگشت.
She told her friends.
او به دوستانش گفت.
They stopped him.
جلوی او را گرفتند.
But no one knew what to do next.
اما هیچ‌کس نمی‌دانست بعد از آن چه باید بکند.
Someone said, “We need an independent and fair person to decide that.
شخصی گفت: «برای تصمیم‌گیری در این باره به فرد مستقل و عادلی احتیاج داریم.
” They went to the judge.

Beth told him about the cat in the bag.
بث به او درباره‌ی گربه‌ی داخل کیسه گفت.
The judge asked, “Is there evidence?
قاضی پرسید: «آیا مدرکی هست؟
Can you demonstrate how he did it?
می‌تونید نشون بدید که چطور این کار رو انجام داده؟
“Look in his bag,” said Beth.
بث گفت: «داخل کیسه‌ش رو نگاه کنید.
She opened it and let a cat out of the bag.
» بث آن را باز کرد و یک گربه از کیسه بیرون آورد.
They learned the man’s secret, and he went to jail.
آن‌ها راز مرد را فهمیدند و او به زندان رفت.
That’s how the idiom “let the cat out of the bag” came to mean to tell a secret.
به این ترتیب اصطلاح «گربه را از کیسه بیرون دادن» به‌معنای گفتن راز بود.
