Old Archie needed some money.
آرچی پیر به مقداری پول احتیاج داشت.
He decided to sell his donkey.

So he and his son Tom went to town.
پس او و پسرش، تام، به شهر رفتند.
It was situated many miles away.

Soon, they met a woman.

“Where are you going she asked.

“To town,” said Archie.

“Any smart person would ride the donkey,” she said.

“I’m very smart!

” Archie wanted to look smart.

So he climbed onto the donkey.

Then they continued in the direction of the town.
سپس دوباره به سمت شهر راه افتادند.
Further along the road, they met a farmer.
آن‌ها در امتداد جاده، کشاورزی را ملاقات کردند.
“Hello,” said Archie.
آرچی گفت: «سلام.
“We want to sell this donkey.
ما می‌خوایم این الاغ رو بفروشیم.
Do you want to buy it?
می‌خوای اون رو بخری؟
” “I don’t need a donkey,” said the farmer.
» کشاورز گفت: «من به الاغ احتیاج ندارم.
“But if you want my advice, don’t ride it.
اما اگر توصیه‌ی من رو بخوای، سوارش نشو.
The donkey needs to be in good physical condition.
الاغ باید در شرایط جسمی خوبی باشه.
“Good idea,” said Archie.
آرچی گفت: «ایده‌ی خوبیه.
“Tom, I want you to ride it.
تام، من می‌خوام تو سوارش بشی.
You’re lighter.
تو سبک‌تر هستی.
” “Neither you nor your son should ride it.
نه تو و نه پسرت نباید سوارش بشید.
It looks very tired.
خیلی خسته به نظر می‌رسه.
You should carry the donkey.
شما باید الاغ رو حمل کنید.
” suggested the farmer.
کشاورز پیشنهاد داد.
“You’re right,” said Archie.

“Come on, Tom!

We’ll carry it for the final few miles!

The donkey was very heavy, and they couldn’t maintain a good speed.
الاغ خیلی سنگین بود و آن‌ها نمی‌توانستند سرعت خوبی را حفظ کنند.
They didn’t arrive until late in the evening.
تا عصر دیروقت نرسیدند.
At last, they walked into the town.
سرانجام، وارد شهر شدند.
But there they attracted the attention of some teenage boys.
اما در آنجا توجه چند پسر نوجوان را به خود جلب کردند.
They laughed at Tom and Archie.
آن‌ها به تام و آرچی خندیدند.
They started to throw stones at them.
شروع به پرتاب سنگ به سمت آن‌ها کردند.
The donkey reacted by kicking.
الاغ با لگد واکنش نشان داد.
Tom and Archie dropped the donkey.
تام و آرچی الاغ را انداختند.
It fell on the ground and then ran away.
الاغ روی زمین افتاد و سپس فرار کرد.
Archie lost his donkey.

He went home with no money.

What does this story teach us?

To attract means to make a person or thing come closer or be interested.
