بخش اول – کوانزا
Kwanzaa is a seven-day holiday celebrated in the United States and other countries by people of African descent.
کوانزا تعطیلات هفت‌روزه‌ای است که مردم آفریقایی‌تبار در ایالات متحده و سایر کشورها آن را جشن می‌گیرند.
It is celebrated from December 26 to January 1 each year.
این جشن هر سال از ۲۶ دسامبر تا ۱ ژانویه برگزار می‌شود.
The celebration is dedicated to honoring African culture and working together as a community.
این جشن به احترام گذاشتن به فرهنگ آفریقا و همکاری با یکدیگر به‌عنوان یک جامعه اختصاص دارد.
Kwanzaa was created in 1966 by Mualana Kareng.
کوانزا در سال ۱۹۶۶ توسط موالانا کارنگ ایجاد شد.
Kareng was an African studies professor at California State University.
کارنگ استاد مطالعات آفریقایی در دانشگاه ایالتی کالیفرنیا بود.
According to him, Kwanzao comes from the Swahili language and means “first fruit”.
به گفته‌ی او، کوانزائو از زبان سواحیلی آمده و به‌معنای «اولین میوه» است.
Kareng wanted to create a holiday for African-Americans as a way for them to reconnect with their heritage.
کارنگ می‌خواست برای سیاه‌پوست‌های آمریکایی تعطیلاتی ایجاد کند تا راهی برای ارتباط مجدد آن‌ها با میراثشان باشد.
The colors of Kwanzaa are black, red, and green.
رنگ‌های کوانزا، سیاه، قرمز و سبز است.
These colors are seen in decorations such as African pieces of art, baskets, and cloth.
این رنگ‌ها در تزئیناتی مانند قطعات هنری آفریقا، سبد و پارچه دیده می‌شود.
Millions of African-Americans wear African clothes during Kwanzaa and decorate their homes with fruit and vegetables.

Each day, a family will celebrate one of seven different principles of their African heritage, such as unity, faith, and community.

Then, they light a candle.

The candles are put on a candleholder called a “Kinara.

On the sixth day of Kwanzaa, families remember their ancestors and get together for a big dinner called a “Academo” Traditional African-American dishes, which include chicken, fish, rice, beans, peas, sweet potatoes, and other vegetables are served.
در روز ششم کوانزا، خانواده‌ها اجدادشان را به یاد می‌آورند و برای شام بزرگی به‌نام «آکادمو» غذاهای سنتی آفریقایی-آمریکایی که شامل مرغ، ماهی، برنج، لوبیا، نخود فرنگی، سیب‌زمینی شیرین و سایر سبزیجات است، سرو می‌شوند.
Like Christmas, there are gifts which are exchanged on the seventh day.
مانند کریسمس، هدایایی نیز وجود دارد که در روز هفتم رد و بدل می‌شوند.
Books are always included because they symbolize the importance of learning about history and tradition.
کتاب‌ها همیشه شامل می‌شوند زیرا نماد اهمیت یادگیری تاریخ و سنت هستند.
Kwanzaa is a way of celebrating the end of the year by honoring African culture and traditions and to start the new year with family members as well as the community.
کوانزا راهی برای جشن گرفتن پایان سال با ارج نهادن به فرهنگ و سنت‌های آفریقایی و شروع سال جدید با اعضای خانواده و همچنین جامعه است.
